Explosion Water Splash
Modifies the texture used for the water splash explosion :
► Get 512² instead of 256² for better water quality
► Get choice between 3 levels of opacity ( all more transparent than vanilla )
This mod is heavily inspired by the recently released “Splash Begone” mod by DeathWrench :
https://www.fallout76mods.com/splash-begone/
( …Which, as for now while writing those lines, is not compatible with mine, because it downright removes the mesh for water splash explosion, preventing the textures to even be called. )
…I also was annoyed by the vanilla effect, more typically because it disturbs everyone – including me – when I am using my .50 cal in the Swamps Heart event.
I still wanted some effects because I like the idea the world reacts to any of my gun shot and because it add some stress and realistic gameplay difficulty… Thus, I wanted a compromise.
Here it is, this mod modifies the texture(s) used for the water splash explosion :
► Get 512² instead of 256² for better water quality ( I did not notice any performance hit and the transparent effect is really improved that way )
► Get choice between 3 levels of opacity ( all are more transparent than vanilla ) :
“Big” is like 2/3 vanilla : Less white foam and better transparency, but still very dense, barely affecting gameplay as you may only see shadows through it.
“Medium” is half vanilla : Even while projecting max foam, you can still see objects, or at least shadows, through it. Still dense enough to make the explosion a bit stressful in combat ; definitely my adviced choice.
“Lightest” is like 1/3 vanilla : Barely reacts as water should, and massively affecting gameplay as you will be able to see just anything through it.
► To install, choose just one, open the .rar and extract the .ba2 file ; Move it to the fallout76 Data directory, and, as for any other mod, add the file name separated with a comma to the sResourceArchive2List list in your custom.ini file.
► You’re absolutely free to do whatever you want with these files ( as long as for FO76 of course ):
Modifying them, including them in a pack, etc… No need for you to ask or/and wait for my authorization.
